I’ve worked from home since February 2002, so it’s not a new thing for me. However, I’ve had a studio at Lowe Mill for just over 5 years now, so not going to work for at least part of the week has been an adjustment. And now my whole family is working from home! It seems like every time I turn around it is time to feed everyone again – lol!<\/p>

But overall, things are going well. This is our spring break week, so I’m trying to take a little time for myself. The boys start online school next week, and I think that will be an adjustment for all of us. They’ve been doing whatever their teachers sent them the last couple of weeks, but none of it counted for a grade.<\/p>

I was fortunate and got a wholesale order from the U.S. Space and Rocket Center a couple of weeks before everything shut down. All my materials are here, so I’ve been working on the order. I’m hoping they get to open soon and I can deliver everything…or that they’ll want it so they can add it to their online store. \u00a0It has been keeping me busy, and that has been invaluable!\u00a0<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

I’ve also been doing a little abstract experimentation. I have really enjoyed being able to focus on my love of color and letting that element take center stage. I’m thinking of ways I can combine this with more realistic elements in the future, but for now, I’m learning.\u00a0<\/p>

I’ve also decided to start creating some fun pieces that return more to my graphic design roots. I’m not sure where this will lead, if anywhere, but it feels good to something positive and fun right now.<\/p>

My home studio is definitely a mess with all the different things I’ve got going on, but it’s all good. I’m so thankful I have a room to call my own. A place that I can close the door, turn on some music, and forget about all the craziness going on in the world right now. I have no idea when Lowe Mill will open again. I miss my work studio. I miss my friends and fellow artists. \u00a0 But I admit, it is kind of nice to not have anywhere to go. To be able to spend time experimenting and learning. To work in my yard and spend time with my kids. It’s a brave new world for now, and we’ll be stronger for it.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
