I might like color…just a little bit.
And animals. And flowers. Space is pretty cool too. My work spans the spectrum because I love trying new things, and exploring everything our amazing world has to offer. What ties it all together? My passion for color. It is my foundation.
Color wraps us in memories and moments. It speaks to each person individually, and yet ties us together through shared experiences. It shapes how we feel, expresses who we are, and makes our space – ours. I love using bright colors that bring happiness to a space and focusing on the positive with my work.
PROCESS
details make the difference
I work primarily with colored pencils, but often combine them with wax crayons, acrylics, watercolors, and gouache. It takes many layers to build up the vibrant colors and amazing details I’m looking for. Washes add depth and touches of metallic paint add fun and whimsy. Details are done with traditional colored pencil techniques. My works emphasize our shared connections and experiences to my subjects. We all have a story, and our stories are better together.
FOUNDATION
still growing and learning
I grew up in Rock Hill, SC. My parents were both high school Biology teachers, and they taught me to appreciate nature. My fascination with space and science fiction brought me to Huntsville, AL. I graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. Following college I was employed by various companies as a web programmer, graphic designer, and art director. In 2002, I launched my own business, ChromAddict.
My work has been included in publications such as “Colored Pencil Magazine”, “Ann Kulberg’s Color! Magazine”, “Art Galleries and Artists of the South”, Strokes of Genius 6 and 10, and Colored Pencil Dogs & Cats. I was the Featured Artist in the 2016 Spring Edition of the Strathmore Artist Newsletter. Exhibits include Colored Pencil Society of America’s International Exhibition, Special Merit Awards in various exhibits on Light Space & Time Online Gallery, and regional art festivals and juried shows.
My studio is located in historic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, the largest privately owned arts center in the U.S. I also have a home studio.
